A colonoscopy is an endoscopic assessment of the large bowel (colon) to diagnose bowel conditions and reduce cancer risk. It may be advised for rectal bleeding, persistent diarrhoea, change in bowel habit, abdominal pain, or iron deficiency anaemia.
